Why I write…

I’ve always loved movies, for as long as I can remember. When I was seven I wrote my first screenplay. I don’t remember too much about it, but apparently I used the phrase “1,2,3 Go!” alot. This blog is my love letter to cinema. A chance for me to go back to film school with the eyes and experience of an adult. I wanted to formalize and solidify my understanding of film and really try to learn what makes a “great movie.” This is my attempt to do that.

Sean Klooster is a New York University Tisch School of the Arts graduate where he graduated with honors with a BFA in Film & Television Production. Most recently, Sean worked as a Director’s Assistant for Directors such as: Robin Wright, Laura Linney, M. Night Shyamalan, and Julia Ducournau on shows like Netflix’s Ozark & The Servant for Apple TV+. Sean is also a writer and director. Sean’s work focuses on topics of identity and moral pluralism. Sean recently directed a short film, D.O.A, with funding from Laura Linney and help from the Ozark production crew. Sean’s script, “The Tragic Story of the Untimely Death of the Famed Movie Star Roger Steele”, was recently recognized on The Black List, where it scored a coveted 8+.
